Humble Mind - Organic Chemistry provides an affordable and comprehensive study tool for a full year of undergraduate Organic Chemistry. In the app you will find the following resources
-- Short-form videos on Organic Chemistry topics
-- Flash cards study tools on introductory topics is Organic Chemistry
-- Multiple-choice quizzes on introductory topics in Organic Chemistry
-- Video long-form solves on spectroscopy solves, mechanism problems, and challenging synthetic problems to bring all the topics in that chapter (and previous chapters!) together.
I have been teaching Organic Chemistry at the University level for 20 years, as well as teaching General Chemistry for non-majors, majors, engineers and nursing students, as well as Advanced Organic Chemistry as well as Medicinal Chemistry
The following topics are covered in Humble Mind - Organic Chem:
1. Introduction to Organic Chemistry-- A review of general chemistry topics, then introducing the functional groups in Organic Chemistry and basics of bonding in Organic Chemistry
2. Acidity in Organic Chemistry -- A section on acidity, resonance and oxidation/reduction in organic chemistry.
3. Hydrocarbons in Organic Chemistry-- Properties, physical characteristics, nomenclature of alkanes and cycloalkanes. Also introduces the first reaction of free-radical halogenation.
4. Stereochemistry-- An examination of stereochemistry and stereoisomerism
5. Spectroscopy-- An introduction to NMR Spectroscopy (HNMR and C-13 NMR), Mass Spectrometry, and Infrared Spectroscopy
6. Nucleophilic Substitution -- Examination of Sn1 and Sn2 reactions
7. Alkenes-- An overview of carbon-carbon double bond physical properties, nomenclature, formation by E1 and E2 reactions, and addition reactions (Markovnikov and Anti-Markovnikov Reactions)
8. Alkynes-- An overview of carbon-carbon triple bond physical properties, nomenclature, formation by elimination reactions, carbon-carbon bond formation, and addition reactions
9. Conjugated Dienes-- Diene reactions, spectroscopy, formation and properties
10. Aromatic Compounds (Arenes) -- Aromatic compound nomenclature, physical properties, spectroscopy, formation and reactions
11. Organometallic Compounds -- Nomenclature, physical properties, formations and reactions of organometallic reactions
12. Singly-Bonded Heteroatoms-- Nomenclatures, reactions, formations, and spectroscopy of alcohols, ethers, thiols, sulfides, amines and epoxides
13. Doubly-bonded Heteroatom-- Nomenclature, reactions, formations and spectroscopy of ketones, aldehydes, and imines
14. Carboxylic Acids and Carboxylic Acid Derivatives- Nomenclature, reactions, formations and spectroscopy of carboxylic acids and carboxylic acid derivatives
15. Enolate Chemistry -- Aldol, Claisen, Dieckmann reactions, the Hell-Volhard-Zelinsky Reaction, the Haloform reaction, the Robinson Annulation and the Michal Reaction, along with the acetoacetic ester and malonic acid reactions and decarboxylations.
Starting from Section 7, long-form video problems are available to address more challenging critical-thinking problems that often appear during Organic Chemistry.
